Plans to limit the number of Bulgarian and Romanian workers coming to the UK when they join the EU next year are to be outlined by Home Secretary John Reid.  The UK was one of only four countries to open their borders to the eight countries which joined the EU in 2004.  Up to 600,000 workers entered the country which was more than was expected.

q.   Should we limit the number of workers entering the UK from all member states of the EU?

The cost of residents' parking permits could be linked to car emissions under plans being considered in one of the country's most affluent areas.  A Lib Dem council in London wants owners of gas-guzzling vehicles to pay more to park outside their homes.  Richmond residents with high-emission cars could pay £750 a year, compared with £200 now, but the greenest cars would be exempt.

q.   Should owners of cars with poor fuel consumption/high-emission figures pay for their effects on the environment?

The government has denied caving in to pressure after scrapping proposals to make new faith schools in England take children from other religions.  Under the plans, they would have had to reserve up to 25% of places for pupils from outside their faith.  But Education Secretary Alan Johnson said he had now reached a "voluntary agreement" with churches on quotas making legislation unnecessary.  Tory Lord Baker branded it the "fastest U-turn in British political history".

q.   Should the question of student quotas be left to the schools to decide?

Across the UK there are 38 Children's Hospices with five more planned. These facilities provide a caring and comforting atmosphere for terminally ill children and their families.  Unbelievably, Hospices in England only receive an average of 5 per cent of their funding from the government.  The dedicated staff rely on public donations to provide this desperately needed service.  Without this dedication many of our children would not be able to pass through this final period with the dignity and care they deserve.

q.   Should this most valuable service be fully funded by the Government?

Twenty per cent of 14-year-old British girls have had sex - a survey suggests with an average of three partners.  65 per cent of these had unprotected sex, while almost half had had a one-night stand (45 per cent).  The number who have had sex more than once a month was over half (55 per cent).  Only 6 per cent did not have sex again after their first experience.  The survey found alcohol was a major contributing factor, with 60 percent admitting they were drunk when they first had sex.

q.   Should young girls be taught that underage sex is wrong, rather than being taught how to do it?

Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell has said the UK will become the "world leader" in internet gambling.   A new regulatory code is to be implemented to protect consumers.  30 countries have met at Ascot racecourse to discus the UK plan and a possible international standard.  Tessa Jowell has said that to ban internet gambling would only drive it "underground" and fuel crime.  US law forbids internet betting and prohibits banks and credit card firms from taking web payments.

q.    Have the Americans got it right?
